Looks like the 1018 was never supported under any version of Mac OS X.

The question was raised with a view to compatibility with Mac OS X Mavericks (10.9.4). There is a link to download HP Printer drivers v3.1, and instructions to install and it seems some people have had success. As you have downloaded the later v5.0 of the HP drivers I think you will need to delete it from your system. The location is Macintosh HD/ Library/ Printers/ hp. Move the hp folder to your trash and then install the 3.1 version. Hope it works.

HP just lists Windows drivers for the 1018 on their web site. I don't know if there is any possibility that the 1022 driver would work since the printers are so similar. If this is a new printer, and you can't get it to work, you might talk to HP about exchanging it for the 1022. If you follow the instructions on the page that Greg cites, you will find the proper driver and associated dependencies. The foo2zjs Mac OS X installer has documentation on how to implement the installation, get the extra files you need, and load the firmware to the printer. The Mac OS X driver package has worked well for many with the LJ 1018.
